How to dress for an interview
Something comes to your mind speaking of what to wear to an interview.
You probably have the picture of your shirt and pant or skirt and your laced
shoes or flat footwear/heel. Very good.
I'll teach you how to wear what you know should be worn and shed more light on
what you should wear.
Welcome back to Fashioning with Tee. I'm particularly excited to
write you this time. You wanna ask why? It's a silly reason but
I'll share. Lol
It's been raining and I love the atmosphere that comes with rain. Cool,
lovely and no pressure kinda thing. So yeah, it's safe to say, I feel good
the rainy season is here.
Alightyyyy. Back to business!
The saying 'the way you dress is the way you'll be addressed' is of no doubt a
truth. Your employer has more than your CV to look through
to guarantee if you look the competence.
Is it necessary I prepare an attire for my interview?
An absolute Yes.
Is it necessary I prepare an attire for my interview even if it's a virtual interview?
Absolutely my dear.
The standard dressing for a formal interview is a corporate look.
You can check out corporate styles you'd love to rock from my previous blog
posts and you can get some more on the Internet.
Let me show you something real quick. It is possible you dress corporate
or formal and you still lead a potential employer to make negative assumptions
on your fitness for the job. This is to say, it's not just in what you wear, it's also
in how it is worn.
How to dress for an interview.
5 ways to get the job down with your look:
1. Do not appear in rumpled clothes.
Wearing rumpled cloth sends a message of incompetence or being
lackadaisical to your employer. If you can't take time out to iron your clothes
properly (and orderly), it becomes difficult to trust that you're truly diligent.
2. As a man, it is important to make sure your shirt is evenly tucked
in and the tip of your neck tie rests at the centre of your belt.
Attention to details is one of the qualities your employers will see in this.
See the attached image
3. As a lady, don't prioritize impression over your comfort.
You should not however be shallow in your looks because of this.
If the interview isn't virtual and you want to look as smart as you can, yet you
don't find comfort in heels, your flat shoes can serve you good as well.
If you're wearing heels also, it is advisable not to appear in something more than 2
inches(you can do more after you've gotten the job just if it works for you).
4. Tight clothes are not smart clothes.
Do not wear tight clothes to an interview(virtual or onsite).
It doesn't tell that you're smart or composed. It'll rather likely send a message
that says you're up to something different asides the ‘interview’.
Put on clothes that'll make you feel comfortable and not overly reveal your
inner wear especially when you sweat.
(See the above image)
5. Combine colors carefully.
Don't be loud. Don't be flashy. Don't be too attracting. It's not a fashion show.
A quick plus..
Be moderate with the use of your jewellery.
Your necklace (if necessary), your wristwatch and bracelet is perfect enough.
There are more of these to note, but you can ride safely from here.
